Bob Barlow:
I always liked to fix or improve things. This led me to an (electrical) engineering education and an interest in alternative energies. I began construction and remolding in the 1970’s and merged into restoration of colonial homes. I was very intrigued by traditional mortise and tenon timber framing, and in the mid 1980’s was present at the founding of the Timber Framers Guild. I am a lifetime member of the Guild. Our ability to work with large pieces of wood opened the door to making architectural brackets, ornaments and rafter tails. Along the way I have built stairs, doors, columns, tables and furniture. I enjoy being able to compliment new ideas with traditional techniques and even new processes like CNC.
John Fuchs:
I went into carpentry soon after studying philosophy and theology. I built my own log home. My preference is to work with natural materials in ways which highlight the beauty of nature. I love rustic projects.
